The Kiwi project: a school-exchange with New Zealand Stampa
The reason why our school has proposed a school exchange with New Zealand for our students of the tourist courses is due to the thought that in Sardinia the tourism industry is still being developed and improved from any point of view, and we therefore need new ideas, proposals for immediate changes but we expecially need the expertize of new local professionals.

This is really a fantastic opportunity for our students to benefit both from the cultural exchange itself and the chance to watch the "modus operandi" of a huge and beautiful island "down under".
It is our precise aim to introduce our students to the cultural, social, historical and traditional aspects of the country they are visiting in order to acquire a deeper experience of all the different activities related to the tourism industry, the involvement and professionality needed to carry them out successfully, and become more and more competitive and efficient.

STEPS OF THE EXCHANGE
Our project includes three precise steps:

1) courtesy visit of principals of the two partner-schools with the purpose of meeting and to get to know the school organization and the educational aims of both schools, to discuss, elaborate and sign the protocol of agreement and to select the cultural and territorial exchange topics; both principals will be accompanied by one teacher.

2) the students of the Tourism course that will participate in the exchange with New Zealand, share some classroom activities with their partner- students, linked to the tourism industry in our region so that to be able to introduce it in exhaustive way to their young new Zealand partners (i.e. the role of our ente provinciale per il turismo, tour operators travel agencies, forms of accomodation on the coast and inland too, the popular traditions, the local cuisine, etc.) Moreover with the help of the teachers who join students in this experience, they will have to plan an itinerary, if possible in the province of Nuoro, in order to provide some visits to museums, archaeological sites, handicraft laboratories and farm houses, and obviously a visit to seaside resort to their partner- school.

3) The third step is the exchange itself of our students who will be spending 2 weeks in Waihi in 2009 where they will undertake different school and extracurricular activities  arranged by our New Zealand partners in team work with our italian teachers including guided tours to their must important tourist attraction our students will be informed by their partners students about their culture, popular traditions, natural beauties and their local and national organization to welcome tourist.
Both Italian and New Zealand students will be accommodated during their 2 weeks-stage in local families, if possible the same of the students who will participate to the exchange. Therefore it is also very important to fit in and participate to the lifestyle of the host-country.

During the student exchange the teachers duty will be that of constantly watching and helping their students in their school and extracurricular activists.
When their come back to Italy our students will be required to talk about their New Zealand experience, to inform all the other students to spread their knowledge of all those precious information acquired during their 2 weeks-stay in Waihi.
